I was born in Spokane, Washington in January, 1949, and raised on a ranch on Coeur d'Alene Lake in northern Idaho. Our family business produced the first machined log homes with my Grandfather’ tooling. My family later moved the business and themselves to Gallatin Gateway, Montana. Grandpa later sold the mill, but it is still in operation. Later, we moved to Huntington Beach in Southern California, then to Orange, California where I graduated from Villa Park High School. I continued on to college and worked a part time job at a local gas station.  During my junior year of college, my dad thought I was getting close to being drafted. He suggested I dodge the draft and enlist in the Navy. So, I enlisted as a Sea Bee Electrician. That did not go as to plan. Hurricane Camile erased the Sea Bee base from Mississippi. The Navy’s plan “B” for me was submarines. I said “No, how about aviation electronics?” That worked. I was off to the Navy’s Aviation Electronics School Millington, Tennessee. After Aviation Electronics School, I went back to San Diego for swimming tests and S.E.R.E school. (survival, evasion, resistance, and escape). Then I was off to Atsugi, Japan with Fleet Airborne Reconnaissance Squadron One (VQ-1) then off to Da Nang, RVN. I earned my Aircrew Wings and 6 Air Medals while in Viet Nam. My next career stop was the Philippines for Jungle School. I re-enlisted for Avionics 'B' School. Then I was back to Millington, Tennessee for Advanced Aviation Electronics School. VQ-1 wanted me back after the school moved to Agana,  Guam. I was put on a Special Operations roster by 7th Fleet GURUs. I finished my career at Corry Field, Pensacola, Florida. I started the Aviation Electronic Warfare School doing most of the research and curriculum writing,  Before I left the Navy, my dad asked me to help him get the log home business going again. We got it going and sold a lot of homes, but he made Archie shine by not paying enough for a married person to live on. I moved on to 84 Lumber, and then Lockheed Martin. White there, I aligned the targeting system for the Apache Helicopter and checked out the engineering on other test stations. When it was time to retire, we made up a list of possible locations and the good or bad things in all the states. Southern Carolina won.
