VETERANS MEETINGS


Every Wednesday at 10:00 am

Just bring yourself with a proof of service (DD214, driver license or state ID with veteran certification image, military or VA card)


 Please check out the Facebook page www.facebook.com/andersonvetshelpingvets for any events or changes that come up between meetings. If something comes up between meetings, you probably won’t see it here. Lawn parties and ramps are good examples, so keep an eye on the Facebook page.  


Recurring VHVA Events

  

· Combat vets are meeting every Monday of every week of every month of every year 4 pm - 5:30 pm. 


· Not until further notice (Its winter): Tommy Lowe hosts VHVA fishing outing. You must make a reservation. The boat seats five. The event will be on Mondays this next season.


          

Upcoming VHVA Events

May 22, 2025: The VHVA fishing pontoon will be out on Lake Hartwell to control the bass, crappie or any other fish populations in Lake Hartwell. You need to sign up at the Wednesday meetings. The boat goes out on the 2nd and 4thThursdays of every month from the Brown Rd. landing.


 Friday, May 16: The Road Hogs will clean up a stretch of county road personally selected by Carol Porter or Don Saxon. Pay attention to the Facebook page this week for the time and place. Meanwhile, get those shirts, bags, and pickers clean and shiny. 


May 17, 2025: Lost City Regatta at Asbury Park. Any service branch brave enough to take on the Lady Vets? Have you seen the signs on the billboards in Anderson? This is a big event. The lady vets need competition; they cannot be left un-challenged. If you can’t challenge them, then come out and cheer them on. They came in second in last year’s event, but they have studied the role book and been in training. The are ready! Anchors up at 11 am. The fun runs from 11 am until 5 pm. The site is Shores of Asbury, 1600 Asbury Park Rd, Anderson, SC 29625

Aug 7, 2025: VHVA Golf Tournament, Walker Golf Course in Clemson. 


Aug 13, 2025: Our guest speaker will be Major General Todd McCaffrey, South Carolina Secretary of Veteran’s Affairs. I think he wants to see if everything he has heard about Vets Helping vets Andrson is true. Lets show him it is!  
 

October 2025: VHVA Car Show at Anderson Mall.


                                                                                                                     

Upcoming Non VHVA Events

May 15-18: in Anderson County. Viet Nam traveling wall will be on display in Liberty. Details come as the date approaches. We also need to be there with black shirts and military caps to show our presence. We are not just a pretty bunch of faces.


May 23 9 am – Noon: Veteran Strong 2025. The Anderson VA Clinic is sponsoring an event to highlight various organizations offering veteran support in the Anderson and upstate area. One of the featured organizations is none other than VHVA. Get those black shirts and military caps on and get to the clinic on the 23rd. We need to show the clinic what all this VHVA ruckus is about. 


Recurring VHVA Events

 · Every Wednesday of every week of every month of every year: VHVA meeting. Coffee and donuts at 9:00 meeting starts at 10:00 am, 213 Brown Rd., Anderson. Hope Fellowship Church. 

· Every Monday and Thursday of every week through the summer: fishing on the VHVA pontoon boat The boat has been improved for handicap use. If you prefer Monday, call Mike Hawkins. If you prefer Thursday, call Loren Tower. Note the contact change from Tommy Lowe. Jesse Moore gives it a two thumbs up. Hartwell bass give it all fins down.

· Monday, Sept 16, 4 pm - 5:30 pm. VHVA combat veterans meet at Jon Mooar’s home, 1137 Old Webb Rd. Anderson. 

· Every 1st & 3rd Monday of every month (Sept 2 and Sept 16, 2024): VHVA wives meet at 10:00 am at Jon Mooar’s home. Tell your wife! If she has any questions, Sandy Taylor has all the answers.


Non Recurring VHVA Events

 · Third Saturday of each Month : Concealed Weapons Permit class instructed by VHVA member Jon Mooar. Call Nick Cirocco to reserve a place. There must be at least 5 registrations to hold the class. Classes are held at the Belton Gun Club. You must bring your own gun and 25 rounds of ammunition 



Elks Lodge Events

 · Every Friday: The Elks Lodge Dinner at 6:00 pm. $12 for each month. Please call 864-225-2541 for a reservation. 

· Every Third Friday: The Elks Lodge, Karaoke at the Elks Lodge during dinner.
